From the 1st of January 2007 Romania finally became part of the European community.

Today a foreign citizen can become owner of real estate, a house or apartment in his/her own name just like a Romanian citizen but still for some time a foreigner can not register an estate in their own name. But this isn't a great problem as you can set up a limited company Ltd (of which you and/or your foreign company will be partners, it's also possible to be the only partner), which can purchase the ground for you.
